Cygwin Installation HowTo

first go to http://www.cygwin.com

download the setup program

http://www.cygwin.com/setup.exe

when prompted by windows select open to begin the install or save to complete it another time...

After Selecting open are beginning the install the following window will appear, select next to continue

<Root Directory> should be set to a location that has at least 300Mb of free space. remember this place because it will be necessary later to know where to place files.

<Install for>leaving the defaults will work but, If you do not have administrator privileges you will have to select <<install for>> "Just ME"

<Default Text File Type> by definition UNIX will be you best option, but will you need a editor capable of editing unit text. ( this will come later)

<Direct connection>This should work without modification;

IE5 being the next best option, else if you know your proxy information feel free to futs

Choosing a location nearest you is a good Idea.

Now in order to make individual modifications select View

The labels read

<current> <new> <binary> <source> <Category> and <package>. A package that has skip in the second column will evidently be skipped so in order to select that package click on the word skip
