Noor's Totally Awesome Spicy Chick Pea Recipe Chickpeas 2 cans Tomato Paste 1/2 of small can Cumin Seeds 1 teaspoon (optional) Black Mustard Seeds 1 teaspoon (optional) Tamarind 2 tablespoon soaked in 1 cup of water (Fresh or Paste) Chilli Powder 1/2 teaspoon (optional) Turmeric 1/4 teaspoon Fresh Corriander 1 bunch Fresh Mint 1 bunch Garlic Minced 1/2 teaspoon Fry cumin and mustard seeds in some oil (Be careful not to let the oil get too hot. Mustard seeds pop and can cause severe burns so cover the pot). Remove from heat add chilli, turmeric, garlic and tomato paste. Stir and return to medium heat. Wait 5 minutes and add chickpeas (drain water from can before). Add 1-2 cups of water (depending if you want it thick or thin) and let come to a boil. In the food processor, mince mint and corriander and add tamarind and blend togather. Add the mixture to the chickpeas and let cook covered on low to medium heat for 15 minutes.
