Conclusion

The result of this project is an interactive 3D atlas of the human brain which has been fully segmented with each voxel belonging to one of the 90 manually identified structures (Figs. 4 and 5)

This comprehensive atlas will allow researchers to study the shape and orientation of various brain structures in high resolution 2D orthogonal views and 3D surface renderings of individual structures. Most beneficial is the fact that this atlas has been used to create a 3D probabilistic atlas automatically by segmenting volumes from 150 subjects.
