The Image Processing Lab
There is quite a number of people
in the image processing lab, working under the direction of Dr D.Louis
Collins on various techniques and their application to Image Guided
Surgery, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy and Alzheimer's Dementia.
Current Projects
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Biomedical Engineering at McGill University of Montreal,
Canada. I work at
the McConnell Brain Imaging
Centre of the Montreal
Neurological
Institute.
My research involves automated analysis of medical images for
neurological diseases detection. I am developing methodologies at the
following levels:
Voxel-based morphometry
- Development of an improved between-group voxel-based morphometry
methodology by performing within-group nonlinear registration
- Gray and white matter VBM analyses using the improved
methodology in patients with: (a) temporal lobe epilepsy, with or
without hippocampal atrophy; and (b) mild cognitive impairment and
Alzheimer's dementia

statistical analysis of
gray matter and white matter in temporal lobe epilepsy. NeuroImage,

nonlinear registration improves VBM resultsProc. ISMRM 2003.
Structure-based morphometry
Area-based morphometry
- Development of a classifier based on simple intensity, GM or WM
measures derived on a group of preselected voxels,
derived from VBM analysis.

prediction . Proc. MICCAI, C. Barillot, D.R. Haynor, P. Hellier

Volume of interest-based morphometry
- Development of a classifier based on intensity and registration
features via Principal Components Analysis
- Using this classifier, lateralization of seizure focus in
temporal lobe epilepsy patients;
- Using this classifier, early detection of Alzheimer's dementia
and differentiation from mild cognitive impairment
