In order to quantitatively evaluate the methods and compare them with
previously published results [1], a 3D root-mean-squared
(rms) minimum distance measure,
,
was computed for the ESS of selected
sulci
that were
identified manually by a medically-trained expert on the phantom volumes
and on the real MRI volumes. The 3D rms minimum distance measure is
defined on a point-wise basis, computing the root mean square (over all
nodes in the ESS defining the sulcus) of the minimum distance between each
node in the transformed source sulcus and closest point on the target
sulcus surface.
