Zinreich et al. [67] describe accuracy experiments
performed with the ISG Viewing Wand and using CT data. Their
experiment consisted of performing homologous point matching
registrations with various sets of markers. The main conclusions of
this work can be summarized as follows.
- The average error found was 1.7 mm with a standard deviation of
0.9 mm. Maximum errors were between 4 and 5 mm.
- The error was smaller when chosen landmarks were widely
dispersed.
- The error was larger when landmarks were in the same plane.
- When landmarks were in the same region, the error tended to
increase with the distance from this region.
