Even though there are techniques allowing volumes to be warped non-linearly [7,9,8], it is still a better approach to try to produce distortion-free images. Several MR image distortion correction methods require the acquisition of two images. This double acquisition can lead to unacceptable scan times since requires a large number of slices. Work has still has to be performed for the development of clinically applicable pulse sequences that produce geometrically accurate images in reasonable times.
