Previous: Using POM and
POM is pretty straight forward to use. It takes PostScript or Mac
Scrapbook files, and makes slides of them. There are only a few
things to remember:
- Use 100 ASA film. Everything in the slide maker is calibrated
for 100 ASA film. In an emergency situation, if stuck with 200 ASA
film, try reducing the brightness to 50%. However, this will most
likely produce poor results.
- Please copy your image files (either PostScript or a scrapbook
file) to the ``To Image'' directory on the Mariana. Please also
remember to delete your files once you are done.
- Whether producing slides or prints, the device is always ``LFR
Desktop''. If making prints, people are sometimes tempted to switch
to the print making device G370. Don't be fooled, however. This
device is for making prints on paper. We don't have one. Trying to
use this device will make huge and useless files.
- Turn off the screen saver. Usually the screen saver is off, but
if it is on, it will consume memory and CPU resources that should be
devoted to imaging the slides. Your slide creation will take
longer, unnecessarily.
