Dear researchers and students,

Since 2011, Brain Awareness Montreal has been proud to offer one-week summer internships to high school (secondary 4–5) and CEGEP students.

For one week, any time between July 1st to August 22nd (full or half-time, according to your availabilities), each trainee is matched with a godfather/godmother (graduate/undergraduate student or research assistant) who will supervise them as they work together on a small research project and/or discover a method used in neuroscience. At the end of this unforgettable week, the trainee is invited to present his findings to the other lab members in the form of a power point presentation.

The selected students have already been introduced to neuroscience through their participation in the Brain Bee competition. They therefore already know about dopaminergic receptors, can identify the caudate nucleus on a brain slice, and are all very excited to observe a neuron through a microscope! This program is an excellent way for them to fuel the fire of their growing passion for science while actively contributing to the advancement of your projects!

Of course, this activity would not be possible without the essential contribution of our volunteers. That is why we invite you to register your laboratory and to suggest a godfather/godmother that could welcome the trainees this summer. You can access the subscription form by clicking the link below:

The subscriptions will end on April 4nd 2014. Two information sessions will be announced in the following month. For more details, or for help in developing a short research project to be completed in one week, write to internship.bam@gmail.com.
